This is personal: my mother and sister are breast cancer survivors, I’m high-risk and have been through biopsies, surgeries, examinations, scans, genetic testing and counseling. My grandmothers, may they rest in peace and power, were two of the best friends and mentors I have ever had. I have two grown daughters whose wellness means everything to me.
This is professional: I have trained my whole life for this. First as a lawyer, then as a women's health advocate. This is my life's work.

It’s an organized framework for thinking about a “clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right” situation; the messy mix of the healthcare provider system, third party payers, employers, and slow-as-molasses government entities. There’s enough stress and fear surrounding cancer and other serious illnesses—the medical part is hard enough, but these non-medical aspects freak women out too and I know why! I want you and the people who love you to have the tools to make the best decisions. When you're dealing with so much, I want you to have the comfort of knowing you're not alone and the power that only knowledge can give you.
I wish I could personally advocate for every woman as she faces cancer or another serious illness, both in the health space and the workplace.
